Devin The Dude – Do what you wanna do
Devin the Dude is a Houston-area rapper. Though relatively well-known among the underground hip-hop community during the mid-to-late 90’s, Devin did not achieve mainstream success until his appearance on Dr. Dre’s 2001 album. Besides sex, relationships, ridin’ trucks, smokin’ reefer, drinkin’ beer, partying, and conscious or proverbial themes, much of Devin’s work is also light-hearted and comically self-deprecating.

Joy Orbison – Hyph mngo
“Cool” uncles have always gotten kids into all kinds of wonderful mischief, but 22-year-old Peter O’Grady from London , better known as Joy Orbison, was especially blessed—he credits uncle Ray Keith with introducing him to jungle and U.K. garage long before he could ever hit the clubs. At the age of 13 he took up DJing and eventually moved into production, beginning with Fruity Loops-crafted 8-bar grime loops before shifting into headier territory that combined his love of house, disco, and dubstep with the atmospheric fuzz of bands like My Bloody Valentine, Josef K, and The Beach Boys. -

Plant life – Something about her
Jack Splash is a time traveler. He was there when it all began, and he made the whole planet rock with Afrika Bambaataa. He had Melle Mel’s back when he was by the edge, and he used to wear them big suits with Talking Heads. And as God is his witness, or his name ain’t Jack, he told AC/DC to come back in black. -
Detroit on the horizon

Recloose – Dust (feat. Joe Dukie)
Recording as Recloose, Matt Chicoine is the Detroit,MI producer whose notable EPs for Carl Craig’s Planet E label explore upbeat, sample-based trip-hop instead of the synth-based techno often heard in the Motor City. Unsure of his career direction after graduating with a degree in English from the University of Michigan in nearby Ann Arbor, Chicoine — previously a resident mixer known as DJ Bubblicious — began exploring electronic recording as well. According to Detroit legend, while working in a take-out joint, he slipped one of his tapes into an order from techno don Carl Craig, and Craig signed him to Planet E. -

Floating Points – Vacuum boogie
Citing names as varied as Theo Parrish, Dorothy Ashby and Stravinsky as major influences on his work, it is not hard to see that he has musical knowledge way beyond his (22) years, and having been an accomplished pianist since the age of 16 – he is a true musician. The variety in influences is mirrored in the diversity of his productions – one week it’s broken, the next a string quartet and sometimes just straight up gritty beats. Whatever the genre, the Floating Points ’sound’ shines brightly from within, projecting an individual range and texture of soulful sounds that will remain forever fresh! -

Sia – You’ve changed
Sia – You’ve changed (feat. Laurel Flax)
In 2000, the Adelaide born singer scored a Top 10 hit with her debut single, ‘Taken For Granted’. Pairing her unique Australian drawl with the strident strings from Prokofiev’s ‘Romeo & Juliet’, the track was championed by Trevor Nelson and had Sia performing live on Jo Whiley’s BBC Radio 1 show. Her debut album, ‘Healing Is Difficult’, arrived to cries of ‘the next big R&B thing’. She then added her jazzy slurs to two tracks on Zero 7’s ‘Simple Things’ album and became the voice of the year’s down-tempo soundtrack.

The Banana Sessions – Prodigy Medley
The Banana Sessions … are one of the quirkiest bands kicking around Edinburgh just now. Swapping a bass guitar for a tuba, and featuring one seriously creepy sounding flute, one minute they sound like a gypsy circus band, the next they’re imitating the bombastic marching band sounds of Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club. And just when you find your feet tapping along to the tunes, they sneakily change rhythm and tempo to ear-pleasing effect. -
