Johnny Hammond – Tell me what to do
Johnny Hammond was a pseudonym John Robert Smith (b. 16 Dec 1933, Louisville, KY, USA – d. 4 Jun 1997 – aka Johnny “Hammond” Smith), a jazz organist. He was renowned for playing the Hammond B-3 organ, thus earning “Hammond” as a nickname. Smith recorded a series of albums on the well-regarded CTI Records (Creed Taylor) jazz record label. Hammond’s song “Shifting Gears” was featured on the breakbeat compilation “Ultimate Breaks and Beats”. -

But since the 1980s, his legacy has been firmly established.

The Beastie Boys were the first successful white rap group and one of the few acts from the early days of hip-hop that still enjoy major success. Bobby “Boris” Pickett (born Robert George Pickett, February 11, 1938 – April 25, 2007) was a Somerville, Massachusetts-born musician and actor, best known for singing and co-writing the 1962 hit novelty song “Monster Mash”. Pickett performed the track in an impersonation of veteran horror film stars Boris Karloff, and Bela Lugosi (as in the line “Whatever happened to my Transylvania Twist?”).

Broken social scene – KC Accidental
Broken Social Scene is an indie rock group formed in 1999 in Toronto, Canada.
The band’s core members are Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning. This duo recorded and released the band’s ambient debut album Feel Good Lost, in 2001, with contributions from Ohad Benchetrit (also known as Years), Evan Cranley, Leslie Feist, Justin Peroff, Bill Priddle, and Charles Spearin. All of these musicians would emerge as key members of Broken Social Scene in future endeavors.

Starting off with his first own cheapish Turntables and some commercial house tunes, he rapidly worked himself trough a lot of different electronic music styles. Originally called simply The Maytals, are considered legends of ska and reggae music. They are from Kingston, Jamaica. Their sound is a unique, original combination of gospel, ska, soul, reggae and rock. Frederick “Toots” Hibbert, the leader of the group, was born in May Pen in the Parish of Clarendon, Jamaica. He was the youngest of seven children. He grew up singing gospel music in a church choir, but moved to Kingston in 1961 at the age of sixteen. -

For the legendary Willie Dixon, the Big Three Trio was an important launching pad for a fantastic career. Pianist Leonard “Baby Doo” Caston and guitarist Bernardo Dennis (replaced after a year by Ollie Crawford) joined upright bassist Dixon to form the popular trio in 1946. Caston was just out of the service (where he’d played on U.S.O. tours during World War II); Dixon had been a conscientious objector. Dixon had previously worked with Caston in the Five Breezes and with Dennis in the Four Jumps of Jive. -

The Brighton Port Authority (or The BPA) is a musical project from United Kingdom initiated by Norman Cook (aka. Fatboy Slim) and his long-time engineer Simon Thornton in 2007. Collaborators have included David Byrne (of Talking Heads), Dizzee Rascal, Jamie T, Martha Wainwright and Iggy Pop. Brighton Port Authority has already had a quiet release.
Emmy the Great is fronted by Emma-Lee Moss, born in Hong Kong and now living in London, United Kingdom, noted for her evocative / thought-provoking lyrics and inventive rhymes.
