Squirrel Nut Zippers are a big band/jazz/alternative rock band which formed in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States in 1993. They split in 2000 and reunited in 2007. Squirrel Nut Zippers, featuring original and founding members Katharine Whalen, Jimbo Mathus, Chris Phillips, Je Widenhouse and Stuart Cole. The band still rejoices at the difficulty people have pigeonholing their unmistakable sound.
